Guided Pilgrimage
Pilgrimage is an old practice finding new life. As the world moves faster, pilgrimage moves slowly on purpose, and that pace helps to carry your spiritual life forward.
Jay has walked ancient pilgrimage routes himself and has guided others on them. He can lead you or your group on-site, or support you from home as you walk.
Common questions
-
A pilgrimage shares some of the character of a retreat, but instead of retreating to a single location, pilgrims walk ancient Christian pathways. Walking clears the clutter and makes room for deeper, often-neglected thoughts and emotions to surface, so that God can minister and bring healing and wholeness to your life.
Ancient pilgrimage routes criss-cross the world and vary from one day to many months. Walking distance and terrain vary too. Most paths follow significant ancient Christian routes, so a pilgrimage also carries an element of Christian history and solidarity with the saints who walked before us.
Jay is happy to discuss a route you already have in mind, or to suggest ones that would suit you.
-
Pilgrimage is for anyone seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus. It is especially good for Christian pastors and leaders, and for anyone standing at a turning point.
-
For church groups: as a practicing pastor, Jay knows how hard it is to keep up with the daily work of pastoring people while also planning a retreat or a pilgrimage. He will come alongside the pastor to plan the trip, so the pastor can experience it as a fellow pilgrim while still shepherding the group as they encounter God.
For pastoral formation groups: pastors need time away from ministry to reconnect with God and with other pastors, somewhere safe and guided. After seasons of pouring out, it is a gift to simply come and receive.
-
For many, pilgrimage is the most profound experience of companionship with God they have known. For others, it is the vehicle God uses to speak into the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. And some are caught off guard entirely. They come for a spiritual vacation and find something much deeper.
